Streeeeeeessing

Shipped out about a million jewelry orders today., which I was happy about... But this week is killing me. Finals, papers, a presentation Thursday. Yikes.

I have to admit I felt a little twinge of pleasure when I heard the news about Falwell. No one deserves to die alone in their office at work, but man that guy was an asshole. How can so many religious leaders build their careers around telling people who to hate? The damage he did to gay men and women in this country is immeasurable.

Weez and I are planning a little summer vacay through the Blue Ridge Mountains. Cant wait to see this!

Sunny Sunday

Lunch with Jenny. I poked her little pregnant belly, but she's only four months and not really showing at all yet. She told me over the phone she was getting fat, but she's the first pregnant woman I've ever seen with visible abdomenal muscles. We has fabulous salads at Athens Cafe. Mmmmm. Feta cheese.

Many jewelry orders to fill tonight.... my back hurts from bending over my work table. Lovely lazy Astoria night.

Here I Am, All Alone!

My first post. Actually, I think I started a blog years ago and abandoned it after one post. Hopefully this one will not meet the same fate!

Because tomorrow's Mother's Day, and my mom is hundreds of miles away, I'm kicking things off with a a little tribute to her. Happy Mother's Day Mama! (Though I still can't forgive you for nicknaming me "Yoda")

I found out today that I've sold 114 Koru necklaces since December, which means that I will soon be writing a check for $2,500 to the Kevin Maher Memorial Scholarship Fund. I am still continually amazed by the number of people who've bought the necklace or otherwise donated to the Fund. 114 necklaces. Damn. Maybe it's not much for some people, but for this little ragtag operation, well, I'm pretty pleased with myself.
